Each classroom at Merry Journey is designed specifically for a stage of development — from our youngest infants to our most independent Montessori learners.
Our Blossom class is a warm, safe and sensory-rich environment designed for our youngest children. Every detail of the space supports the rapid physical, cognitive and emotional development that takes place in the first year of life.
The environment allows room for tummy time, rolling, crawling and early exploration — all essential movement milestones. Play activities are carefully selected to stimulate physical, intellectual, language, sensorial, emotional and social development in age-appropriate ways.
Our teachers in Blossom are specially trained to provide the consistent, loving care that infants need to feel secure, develop trust and begin building the foundations of their learning journey.
The Lily class welcomes toddlers at one of the most exciting and rapid stages of human development. Children at this age are driven by a powerful urge to move, explore, touch, taste and begin to understand language and their world.
Our Lily environment is designed to channel this energy positively. Montessori practical life activities — pouring, transferring, simple dressing — build coordination, concentration and the first seeds of independence. Language is a central focus, with rich vocabulary introduced through objects, books, songs and daily conversation.
The classroom provides a secure base from which children begin to develop trust in their environment, confidence in their own abilities and the early foundations of social awareness.
The Daisy class introduces children to the full breadth of the Montessori curriculum for the first time. Children in Daisy are ready for structured Montessori work cycles — periods of focused, self-directed activity with hands-on materials.
Practical life remains central, but children now move into sensorial learning, early literacy and the first stages of numeracy using concrete Montessori materials. They begin to develop the concentration, self-discipline and independence that Montessori education is known for.
The Daisy environment is designed around the concept of freedom within limits — children choose their work, move freely and develop ownership over their learning, always within a warm, structured and beautifully prepared classroom.
The Tulip class takes children deeper into the Montessori curriculum. With foundational skills established, children in Tulip are ready for more complex language work, mathematical exploration and a broadening cultural curriculum.
Children in this class develop the ability to work independently for extended periods, to plan their own work cycle, and to take genuine ownership of their learning. Social development becomes increasingly important — cooperation, communication, conflict resolution and care for the community all emerge naturally through the Montessori environment.
Creative expression through art, music, African dance and drama is a significant part of life in Tulip. Enrichment activities are integrated into the daily rhythm, not added as extras.
Our Sunflower class is the culmination of the Merry Journey journey — designed to prepare children confidently for primary school while honouring everything the Montessori approach has built over their years with us.
Children in Sunflower are true independent learners. They read, write, work with numbers, plan their own time and take pride in their work and their community. They demonstrate the habits of mind that the Montessori environment develops: concentration, persistence, initiative, responsibility and a genuine love of learning.
By the time children leave Merry Journey, they are academically prepared, emotionally confident, socially skilled and ready for the next stage of their education — fully equipped for primary school and beyond.
We welcome enquiries throughout the year. Book a school tour and come and see your child's future classroom for yourself.
